Organizers of NDCA sanctioned events will have the opportunity to offer NDCA Premier National Ranking events, provided they use the NDCA Premier Competition Software for their competition. Multi-Day Competitions and Championships may offer 24 National Ranking Events, and Local One-Day Events may offer 20 National Ranking Events. The ranking events that may be offered are:
- Professional Open Ballroom, Latin, Rhythm, and Smooth (Multi-Day Competitions and Championships only)
- Amateur Open Ballroom, Latin, Rhythm, and Smooth
- Pro/Am Open A Ballroom, Latin, Rhythm, and Smooth
- Pro/Am Open B Ballroom, Latin, Rhythm, and Smooth
- Pro/Am Open C Ballroom, Latin, Rhythm, and Smooth
- Pro/Am Open Senior Ballroom, Latin, Rhythm, and Smooth
Four points are awarded for entering a national ranking event, and then an additional four points are earned from there for each couple in that ranking event that you beat. The ranking events should be the “top” event for each category, such as Pro/Am Open A Ballroom National Ranking Scholarship. Each participating Competition Organizer determines which events are to be their NDCA National Ranking events. It is important for Pro/Am events for the organizer to put the text National Ranking in the title of each ranking event.
No points are earned unless both members of the partnership are currently licensed with NDCA, points are not retroactively available. Points are determined per calendar year, beginning with 2023. Multi-Day Competitions and Championships will award full points earned. Local One-Day Events will award .8 of points earned. Competitors may find out which events are part of the NDCA Premier National Ranking System soon by clicking on the calendar “Options” button on the home page of the NDCA website, then selecting “NDCA Premier Ranking Events”. Points will be uploaded automatically through NDCA Premier to NDCAPremier.com at the same time as when the competition results are uploaded.
The top 48 ranking recipients at the end of 2023 will be recognized in early 2024 at the NDCA Awards Gala. This gala will be rotated annually among the Championships and Multi-Day Competitions that participate in the NDCA Premier National Ranking System. Additionally, the top five ranked couples/teachers/students in each award category at the end of 2023 will receive complimentary NDCA registrations for their competitor licenses for 2024. This will make a total of 280 individuals who will receive complimentary registrations for 2024.
In January of 2024 the hosting event will be one of the four Multi-Day sanctioned events that are held in that month. In January 2025 the hosting event will be one of the Multi-Day sanctioned events that are held in February, and likewise for each consecutive year. Sanctioned Multi-Day events will be given the opportunity to apply to host the awards gala each year, and the selection will be determined by draw.
